437 St Kilda Road rises gracefully above two of Melbourne’s most significant landmarks: the trees of Fawkner Park and the boulevard of St Kilda Road.

“We took our inspiration from St Kilda Road’s beloved and beautiful curved, art deco apartment buildings, while incorporating streamlined, modern and sustainable design principles.”

Jeff Copolov - Director Bates Smart

One of the City’s Oldest Parks

The vision of Charles La Trobe, Superintendent of the Port Phillip District from the mid-1840s, was to surround Melbourne with extensive public parklands.

Fawkner Park was one of those green spaces. Today, it continues to be a place of urban escape to enjoy sport, recreation and the simple pleasures of spending time in landscaped beauty.

Melbourne’s Grandest Boulevard

St Kilda Road is now included in The National Heritage Trust, recognised as a place of outstanding heritage significance.

It was originally planned as a wide European-style boulevard to accommodate horse-drawn traffic, and lined by grand street trees planted in the 1860s. Over the years, it has become the spine of the city’s cultural precinct and parklands.
